The Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration (SME) is a professional society (nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation) whose nearly 15,000 membership represents all professionals serving the minerals industry in more than 85 countries. SME members are engineers, geologists, metallurgists, educators, students and researchers.  SME advances the worldwide minerals community through information exchange and professional development.

This position will be responsible for processing analog media and other data for web retrieval by the public while creating digital archives. The position requires digitizing a variety of media, cataloging and geolocating the data, and constructing records in spatial relational databases utilizing Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and an understanding of maps and other geoscience data. ​
