Put this on your calendar! Create a team, or we can find a team for you! This is our main fundraiser for the year, and the proceeds go to help foster the next generation of SME professional members - students!
Format: 4-person best ball scramble
Includes: green fees, cart, buffet, and beverages (one six pack of beverages per cart [golfer’s choice])
But it is also a chance to renew rivalries, heckle those who deserve it, see if you can actually get a ball on the green for closest to the pin, win wonderful prizes for team scratch or handicap score, and of course, see if your muscles can let you win longest drive (men's and women's)... perhaps technique has something to do with this?
Food, beverages, & prizes to follow on the club house porch. The shotgun start allows us to gather more or less at the same time following golf to swap stories, eat, drink, and for the lucky ones to collect their prizes. There will be a first and second place award based on scratch team score, longest drive men & women, closest to pin, and . . . shortest drive.
We will also implement the Peoria System so the beginners, hackers, and those with less experience playing golf have a chance to win a first place prize. The Peoria System is a sort of 1-day handicapping system for tournaments, and while based in certain part on luck, the system allows a "handicap allowance" to be determined and then applied to each team's score. This will be explained in a handout at the start of the scramble. It’s not about winning (except that is kind of fun) - it’s about participating, having fun, networking, and supporting SME.
This is one of the Boise Section SME’s main fundraising events
All proceeds support several scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students
Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the shotgun start!
