Hercules Silver - Modern Methods Lead to a Copper Discovery in a Historic Silver District

Chris Longton, CPG, VP Exploration

The Hercules Silver Project, located near Cambridge, ID in the historic Heath Mining District on Cuddy Mountain, is a historic silver-rich deposit with associated zinc, lead, and manganese. Utilizing modern exploration methods, the Hercules team made a copper porphyry discovery in 2023 below the known silver mineralization. This presentation will serve as an introduction to Hercules Silver, will describe the mineralization and exploration methods employed, have a discussion of the discovery, and look to the future of the project.

SWAG DONATIONS

We are always looking for SWAG items to include in our raffle giveaways during the awards ceremony. So if you or your company has SWAG items you'd like to donate, please bring them with you to the event!

AWARDS

Players must be present during the awards ceremony to collect their winnings from the following categories:

  • Closest to the pin

  • Team scratch or handicap score

  • Longest drive

  • 1st and 2nd place scratch winners

  • Best dressed!

  • And, perhaps recognition of other golf feats yet to be determined!

ABOUT THE PEORIA SYSTEM

The Peoria System allows beginners, hackers, and those with less experience playing golf to have a chance to win a prize. The Peoria System is a sort of 1-day handicapping system for tournaments, and while based in certain parts on luck, the system allows a "handicap allowance" to be determined and then applied to each team's score (and don't worry, we will explain this all again before the start of the scramble).

NOTE: Winners of the scratch category cannot also win the handicapped category.

And it's not about winning (except that is kind of fun)—it's about having fun, networking, and supporting the future generation of mining professionals. So just remember, you don't have to be a good golfer (or even have played before) to have fun—just do it!

STUDENTS & PROFESSIONALS DISCUSSION PANEL

The Students & Professionals Discussion Panel aims to engage students with professionals in various mining-related disciplines, including environmental science, geoscience, engineering, and more. This event will include a panel of professionals sharing their transition from academia to the professional world.

SME Boise Section wants to take the mystery out of this transition and provide students with the opportunity to hear how people who were once in their shoes took the next step into the professional world. The panel will be followed by informal break-out sessions, where panelists and SME members will circulate to engage one-to-one with students.

More details on panel members coming soon!
