Mineral Resource Update for Liberty Gold’s Black Pine Oxide Gold Project
Owen Nicholls, MSc., RM-SME, Director of Technical Services, Liberty Gold
Liberty Gold’s Black Pine gold deposit is in southeastern Idaho, near the Utah border, within the northern Great Basin of the western United States. The project hosts a large, district-scale Carlin-style oxide gold system in a stable, mining-friendly U.S. jurisdiction. Pegasus Gold Corp operated at Black Pine from 1992 to 1997 and produced approximately 435,000 ounces of gold from shallow open pits at an average grade of 0.63 g/t Au. The historical operations demonstrate the amenability of the mineralization to open-pit, oxide mining, but steadily decreasing gold prices during the period of operations eventually led Pegasus to cease mining.
In 2017 Liberty Gold commenced exploration work in the district and has been steadily growing a resource on the Black Pine deposit. The latest resource, published in February 2026, consists of 4.9Moz of indicated and 1.1Moz of Inferred gold mineralization. The Mineral Resource estimate utilized data from over 460,000m of drilling in more than 3,000 holes to build geological, geometallurgical , and resource domain models to inform the gold interpolation approach. The mineralization at Black Pine is hosted within a thick sequence of faulted carbonate rocks of the Pennsylvanian Oquirrh Formation and exhibits extensive structural preparation, decalcification and clay alteration typical of Carlin-style systems. The system is strongly oxidized across the exposed footprint of the deposit, supporting the potential for efficient heap leach processing, and extensive metallurgical testing has demonstrated rapid gold recoveries with no crush size sensitivity, supporting a simple, scalable, and low-cost processing approach.
Liberty Gold will continue drilling to test the extents of the Black Pine deposit, and we are on track to produce an updated Feasibility level Technical Report in Q4, 2026.
